⭐Sustainability & Materials
Sustainability is a key pillar of Ligno Lights and affects every stage, from the choice of materials to the packaging and life of each luminaire. Our goal is not just to “follow a trend” but to make more conscious decisions about the way we plan and produce.
Our Materials
For our luminaires we use FSC-certified wood. The FSC certification means that the wood comes from forests they are managed in a responsible manner, with respect to the environment, local communities and workers, and with traceability throughout the chain from the forest to the final product.
The finishes we use are paints and water base varnishes, with a low odor and low content of volatile organic compounds (VOC), compared to classic solvents.
Our supplier's list confirms that the products comply with the European standard EN 71-3 for toy safety, which sets strict limits on the migration of specific chemical elements from overlay surfaces.
This makes finishes suitable for surfaces that come in contact with children, such as lighting fixtures in children's rooms or wooden toys
How We Produce
Each lamp is handmade, in small lots. This allows us to:
- better control quality,
- to adapt to real needs,
- Limit waste from overproduction.
What is left over from cutting, where possible, is reused in tests, samples or smaller projects, rather than ending up straight into waste.
Durability to Time
We believe that the most essential form of sustainability is the objects that withstand time.
Ligno Lights are designed with the aim of:
- robust construction,
- timeless aesthetics that does not "tire" easily,
- ability to repair in many parts, instead of immediate replacement.
The less often a luminaire needs to be replaced, the smaller its overall footprint, compared to short-lived logic products
How we pack
For packaging we choose minimal solutions:
- packaging that really protects the product, without exaggeration.
- recyclable materials where possible,
- without unnecessary plastic elements and excessive filling
Our Philosophy
Respect for nature, quality that endures, design with substance. We do not claim that we are “perfect” or “zero footprint” – but we try every new decision on materials, processes and planning to go one step closer to a more conscious, balanced outcome.
