Our story

Hey, I'm Danae, the creator behind Ligno Lights.
My relationship with wood and creation started long before I made my first lamp. From a young age I was fascinated by the idea that an object can change shape and gain new life. So I started collecting old furniture and objects, repairing them, transforming them and discovering through them the joy of handmade creation.
This love for forms, materials and textures led me to my studies in Landscape Architecture. There I learned to observe the world differently: to see how the organic shapes of nature flow, how textures are harmoniously combined, how light changes the sense of a space. Nature became for me endless source of inspiration — from the curves of a leaf to the simplicity of a piece of wood. He taught me simplicity, balance and respect for the material.
Somewhere between all this (again) I found something else: the magic of children's imagination. The way children see the world — no limits, with color, with stories born of nothing. This unpretentious creativity became a key part of my inspiration.

Somewhere there, in this creative course, I am also — George. My own relationship with wood starts from a more technical road: I make furniture, special wooden constructions and fitness instruments, always with love for detail and process. When I met Danae, I saw in Ligno Lights a space where technical knowledge can meet imagination, and that's how I became part of that creation.
Together we give the first shape to each piece: we choose the materials, we work its form and put it in the course that will lead it to its final light. I am inspired by the moment when an idea becomes an object; the path from thought to practice.
At the same time, I help in whatever it takes to evolve the brand — from the organization and the website to the overall image and presentation of the products. For me, the greatest reward is the joy of the man who receives a handmade lamp and makes it part of his space.
Today, Ligno Lights is our shared journey. We create objects with character and love for wood, with the aim of at some point being able to live exclusively from what we love.
